Inspiration and conception: The "Pear Cactus" grows wild in Tennessee.
I tended this plant for several years before it bloomed. The blooms last for only one day and are very fragile. This delicate bloom in the midst of the darkness of thorns inspired this painting.
To my way of thinking, we all have our own little oasis away from the dangers of life.
